In the 1890s, a young Irish woman flees her poverty-stricken homeland for North Carolina in a last desperate chance at happiness, to find the man for whom her father sacrificed his life. But once found, the devastatingly handsome man is not the fatherly figure she imagined.
Now she must find the strength to survive on her own in a new land without succumbing to her irresistible desire for a man who has sworn never to love again.
